Initially, I read this book not to review it, but to know about the organization and much talked about person- Elon Musk.
From Zip2( Musk’s first start-up) to SpaceX, Tesla and Solar City the journey was not easy and continues to be. According to author, if not for Musk’s character the companies would have been bankrupt much earlier, since building rockets or investing in clean technology requires lot of capital to sustain it and if it is privately funded the risk is even higher.
The initial failures of Falcon 1 not once but thrice did not deter musk to remain focused and motivate his team and launch first privately built rocket in Space and later a Dragon Capsule to International Space Station.
We often hear about electric vehicles now but to think of it and pioneer such technology in a car that can clock 60 miles in 4.2 seconds was unimaginable to many, Tesla has done it producing Roadster, Model S , Model X and Model3.
The future for musk is to make Human multiplanetary species, which is not at all easy, for eg. sending Man to Mars will require new rocket Capabilities built cost effectively, may be propelled by methane, but it is such Utopian beliefs and commitment to achieve it is what makes Musk and his team different from the rest.
What’s in Line – More reusable launch vehicles, Falcon Heavy, Dragon Capsules’, upgraded Tesla, Hyperloop and, yes, manned mission to Mars.
The review is purely subjective and it is for the reader to be judgemental.
